Brazilianite on Albite – Golden-Yellow Crystal on White Matrix
A slender, golden-yellow brazilianite rises above a group of white albite crystals. Its elongated form and distinctive sloping termination faces give this small specimen an expressive silhouette. The warm yellow colour, with delicate greenish nuances in places, creates an appealing contrast against the pale albite.
Lustrous crystal faces reveal transparent to translucent areas within the brazilianite. Fine longitudinal surface textures and internal veils add depth. Overlapping albite plates frame the main crystal along one side, while smaller white crystals rest directly on its faces. Viewed from different angles, the specimen offers an engaging interplay between the defined brazilianite prism and the stepped arrangement of albite.
The Córrego Frio Mine is the type locality of brazilianite: the mineral was first scientifically described in 1945 using material from this locality. Brazilianite is a comparatively rare sodium aluminium phosphate. Its association with albite is characteristic of the region’s mineral-rich pegmatites.
In crystal traditions, brazilianite is associated with clarity, self-confidence and creative inspiration. Albite is traditionally linked with an open mind and fresh perspectives.
