Handsized and richly mineralized, this outstanding specimen originates from the legendary ancient mines of Laurion in Greece, one of Europe’s most historically significant ore districts.

The piece displays a classic yet always highly desirable Laurion paragenesis. Vibrant green, botryoidal smithsonite forms well developed, lustrous aggregates with excellent surface quality and an appealing, saturated color. These are partially overgrown by contrasting white aragonite, creating a striking visual interplay between soft, rounded forms and lighter crystalline textures.

Adding further depth and complexity, elegant, bushy rosasite aggregates are present, some closely associated with malachite crystals. The combination of these secondary copper and zinc minerals results in a dynamic and aesthetically balanced composition, typical of the finest Laurion material.

A rare and characterful European classic, representing a remarkable paragenesis from this world-renowned ancient locality … highly suitable for a refined mineral collection.
