Brazilianite with Albite – Luminous Yellow-Green Color and Sculptural Crystal Form
Linópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Dimensions: 3.8 × 2 × 2 cm
An expressive brazilianite specimen whose lively yellow-green color and distinctive crystal form immediately draw the eye. The substantial prismatic main crystal combines broad, lustrous faces with an engaging stepped front. White, bladed albite provides an elegant contrast near the base, beautifully accentuating the brazilianite’s fresh color.
A broad, inclined terminal face creates a striking upper finish. Below it, elongated prism faces alternate with smaller projecting sections and fine surface textures, giving the specimen a sculptural appearance that changes with the viewing angle. The video brings this interplay to life: bright reflections travel across the faces as the crystal turns, while translucent to locally transparent areas reveal an interior containing delicate veils and fine fracture planes. Depending on the lighting, the color appears more lemon yellow or fresh yellow-green.
Brazilianite is a relatively uncommon sodium aluminum phosphate with a monoclinic crystal structure. It forms in phosphate-rich zones of granitic pegmatites, where albite is one of its associated minerals. Linópolis is a classic source with particular mineralogical significance: the region includes the Córrego Frio mine, the type locality of brazilianite, which was first described in 1945 and named after Brazil.
A characterful collectible capturing the appeal of Brazilian pegmatite minerals in a compact specimen: vibrant color, lively luster and a crystal form that rewards close inspection.
In crystal healing traditions, brazilianite symbolizes creative energy, self-confidence and the courage to pursue personal goals with determination.
