Brazilianite on Albite – Lemon-Yellow Crystal with a Distinctive Termination
Linópolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Dimensions: 3.5 × 1.8 × 1.8 cm

Luminous lemon yellow, subtle greenish hues and white albite give this attractive brazilianite specimen a striking natural contrast. The elongated main crystal rises above a compact cluster of bladed albite crystals embracing its lower section and forming an appealing natural base.

Its sculptural crystal form is particularly engaging: broad prism faces, finely textured surfaces and inclined terminal faces create a distinctive silhouette. Smaller, approximately parallel crystal sections project along one side. Transparent areas reveal glimpses of the interior, while rotation brings alternating flashes of vitreous luster and softer surface reflections. Depending on the lighting, the color shifts in appearance from fresh lemon yellow to slightly greenish or warmer golden yellow.

Brazilianite is a relatively uncommon sodium aluminum phosphate that crystallizes in the monoclinic system. The phosphate-rich granitic pegmatites around Linópolis are among its classic sources. The region also includes the Córrego Frio mine, the type locality of the mineral first described in 1945. Its association with albite illustrates the characteristic pegmatitic setting and adds mineralogical interest to this small display specimen.

A characterful addition to a collection of Brazilian pegmatite minerals, combining distinctive crystal form, lively reflections and a beautiful contrast between yellow brazilianite and white albite.

In crystal healing traditions, brazilianite is associated with self-confidence, creativity and the courage to put personal ideas into action.
