An exceptionally blue Smithsonite of this intensity is known from only a very small number of localities worldwide.
This specimen originates from one of the oldest mines on Earth, already worked in antiquity. The locality is truly extraordinary: the entrance to the mine lies beneath the surface of the Mediterranean Sea and can only be reached by diving.
Particularly remarkable are the distinct banded structures of the Smithsonite, displaying beautiful lagoon-blue gradations ranging from soft, pale turquoise to deeper, saturated blue tones. Such aesthetic zoning, combined with the provenance, makes this a truly outstanding piece for the locality and a highly desirable collector’s specimen.
Blue Smithsonite from Greece is traditionally associated with calmness, emotional balance, and gentle stress relief. Its soothing blue hues are believed to support inner peace, ease emotional tension, and encourage clear, compassionate communication. Many practitioners regard it as a stone that helps quiet an overactive mind while promoting a sense of serenity and emotional stability—qualities that harmonize beautifully with its tranquil, marine-inspired coloration.
