An enchanting Fluorite crystal from the legendary Gipfelkluft of Weißeck, captivating with its wonderful transparency and the unmistakable icy-blue colour for which this celebrated alpine locality is renowned.
Its beautifully transparent interior is dominated by a cool, luminous blue, delicately accompanied by soft pastel hues that flow seamlessly into one another. These subtle colour zones appear almost weightless within the crystal, lending it an extraordinary sense of lightness and elegance.
When viewed against the light, the crystal reveals its full splendour: The characteristic icy blue merges with delicate, rainbow-like nuances to create a captivating natural composition. A small crystal of remarkable beauty, whose subtle interplay of colours invites endless admiration.
Rising to 2,711 metres, Weißeck is the highest summit of the Radstädter Tauern and home to one of Europe’s most important alpine Fluorite localities. Its celebrated Gipfelkluft lies at approximately 2,670 metres, steeply below the summit and accessible only under extremely demanding conditions. For decades, this remarkable occurrence has produced extraordinary Fluorite specimens.
Complex geological processes, tectonic stresses and natural weathering have contributed to a remarkable diversity of crystal formations. Successive growth stages and multiple generations of crystallisation can produce the characteristic colour zoning, ranging from intense grape-red and icy blue to the celebrated pastel-rainbow variations. Beautifully preserved crystal faces are far from common under these challenging natural conditions.
