Equally impressive is the unusual crystal architecture. The surface reveals an intriguing combination of gently curved-looking areas, finely textured growth surfaces and pronounced, partially stepped crystal formations. The intense violet zone in the upper section appears almost suspended above the lighter turquoise-blue areas. The Summit Cleft is situated at approximately 2,670 metres above sea level, immediately below the 2,711-metre summit of Weißeck in Austria’s Radstädter Tauern mountains. This remote and challenging Alpine locality has been celebrated for decades for its exceptionally colourful Fluorite specimens.
